Dina Ikonomou (nee Kotsira) passed away peacefully with family by her side on June 23, 2025. Dina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many. She was born in Handrinou, Messinia, Greece. She had bigger dreams than village life and immigrated to Canada. She met her beloved George Ikonomou in Montreal and married in May 1964. They then followed family and moved to Chicago in 1968. Dina was a fine seamstress and held various jobs which included 25 years at Nabisco where she met many friends. She loved cooking using homegrown vegetables, had a yard full of peach trees and a beautiful flower garden. A master maker of diples, she had a huge sweet tooth which motivated her to acquire sweets from family events. She also loved to travel with her children, cousins and friends to places like Greece, Vegas, Hawaii, Aruba and Jerusalem. Her cousins were a huge part of her life and loved sharing stories with each other, cooking together and continuously laughing. Dina was always last to leave the dance floor and last to leave a party. She was hospitable, generous, funny, outgoing, smart, very competitive (hating to lose any game to her grand kids like UNO or spoons). She loved watching Wheel of Fortune (mainly to see what Vanna was wearing), Family Feud, The Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars. She was an expert negotiator, bargain hunter and loved a good deal. She was a strong-willed women with a personality to match. She was a devoted wife to her late husband George. Survived by her children Betty (Kurt) Dickens, Jim (Pat) Ikonomou, loving yiayia to Konstantia, Aristomeni, Sia and Hailey and the Dickens family dog, Lily. Cherished daughter of the late Aristomeni and Eleni Kotsira and sister of the late Themistoklis (Panagiota) Kotsira. Dear aunt, cousin and friend to many who will deeply miss her. May her memory be eternal. All arrangements entrusted to Orrico Kourelis Funeral Services Inc.
