Dionesia Bertsos, 78, of Bridgeview, IL, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, August 22nd.

Dionesia was the beloved wife of the late Panagiotis Bertsos. Together, they built a life rooted in family, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to hard work.

Growing up in the village of Makrisia, Greece, she developed a strength and determination that stayed with her throughout her entire life. When she came to America, she brought that same remarkable work ethic with her and never stopped working hard to raise her two boys.

Dionesia was a woman of extraordinary strength. She was deeply protective of her family a fighter, strong-willed, determined, and incredibly resilient. She faced life’s challenges with courage and never stopped doing what she felt was best for the people she loved.

Her home and her family were her greatest joys, especially her grandchildren. Cooking was one of her greatest passions, and preparing food for her family was one of the ways she expressed her love. She could prepare an entire feast, welcome a house full of family and friends, host a celebration, and somehow have everything cleaned and perfectly back in place before the night was over. She simply had a way of making hard work look effortless.

For 35 years, Dionesia was a talented seamstress, working at a manufacturing company that made high end men’s suits. She was known for being exceptionally fast and precise. She had a wonderful eye for quality and beautiful fabrics and appreciated fine clothing and the craftsmanship that went into making them.

Dionesia was a loving wife, a nurturing mother, and a wonderful grandmother. Her three grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, as did her many nieces and nephews. She loved them immensely and cherished every moment she had with them. Their laughter, their visits, and simply having them near.

She is survived by her sons, Dionisios Bertsos and his wife, Demetra, and Andrew Bertsos and his wife, Sofia; her beloved grandchildren, Kristian, 14, Dionysia, 12, and Emanuel, 10; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Panagiotis Bertsos.

She will be deeply missed and always remembered. May her Memory be Eternal! All arrangements entrusted to Orrico Kourelis Funeral Services Inc.
