Christina Gotsis passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the age of 70, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the loving mother of Diane and Jim, the youngest sister to Efthymia Trilikis and George Gotsis, and the devoted daughter of the late Konstantinos and Afroditi Gotsis. Christina was born on July 22, 1953, in Tripolis, Greece. She grew up in the small village of Alepohori where she loved spending time with her siblings, cousins, and close friends. During her upbringing, she worked in cherry fields, at bakeries, and found her passion for doing hair. In 1979, at the age of 26, Christina, along with her parents, embarked on a journey to the United States. She began her new life in Princeton, Illinois, and later moved to Chicago and then, to Palos Hills. As many immigrants from Greece did at that time, Christina began her pursuit of the American dream, working in restaurants as a hostess and as kitchen staff. Years later, while balancing being a mother and working, she decided to formally pursue her passion for hair and attend cosmetology school. Following her dreams, Christina worked as a stylist for over a decade before starting her own successful business, Express Hair Studios, in 2006. She loved her work and found immense joy serving her community, friends, and family for over 16 years. She touched the hair and hearts of over 3000 people with her talented hands, bright smile, and loving heart during that time. She was happy and proud knowing that she built a business and a legacy that continues on following her passing. During her time away from the salon, she loved to cook, bake, garden, and spend time with family and friends. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, whom she loved, supported, and cherished her close relationship with. She was not only a mother but a best-friend to both of her children. She was a social and vibrant personality, and extended her love and support to her children’s friends as though they were her own. She battled cancer with bravery, humility, and positivity, laughing and smiling every chance she had. May her loving, humorous, caring, and courageous spirit live on through those she touched. All arrangements entrusted to Orrico Kourelis Funeral Services Inc.
