Visitation for Katherine will be held on Wednesday, January 11th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 11025 S. Roberts Rd., Palos Hills, IL 60465, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest among family at Evergreen Cemetery of Evergreen Park Illinois.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Katherine’s name be made to Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church.

Katherine Karakourtis, 89, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2022. She was surrounded by family as she fell asleep into the loving arms of our Lord. Katherine was born in Chicago on March 25 , 1933 to Angelos & Helen (nee Louta) Karakourtis. She graduated from the University of Illinois (Champaign/Urbana) with both a BS & MS in Business. She had a long and successful career in education. She taught at Steinmetz High School while concurrently pursuing her Phd at Loyola University. She guided her students through classes such as business Law and computer programming as she provided opportunities for students to advance beyond their expectations. Katherine was a true academic. She was a life-long learner, who considered intellectual improvement to be the most gratifying part of her day. She will always be remembered for her engaging conversation, exquisite vocabulary and her love of her family. Dearest sister of the late Mary (the late Dr. John) Panton, Demetra (the late Dr. Basil) Chronis, and the late Harry Karkaroutis. Loving Aunt of Dr.Peter (Estelle) Panton, Evans (Laura) Panton, Dr. Robert (Marika) Panton, and Dr.Elizabeth (Dr.Frank) Karkazis, the late Dr. George (Connie) Chronis, Paul (Stacey) Chronis & Helen Chronis. She cherished her 18 great grand nieces and nephews and 1 precious great great grand nephew. Katherine and her family are grateful to the neighbors, friends, and caregivers, who provided comfort at the time of her greatest need. Katherine’s family kindly requests, in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church.
