A Memorial Service for Joni will be held Saturday March 16 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Gatto’s Italian Restaurant Atrium, located at 1938 E Lincoln Highway New Lenox Illinois. The Celebration of Life Service to begin at 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joni’s name will be used in accordance with the families wishes. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Orrico Kourelis Funeral Services for the family or left at the Memorial Service. Thank You!

Joan (Joni) Elizabeth Tsakiris (Wertz) of Manteno, Illinois passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024. Joni was born on January 19, 1971 in Evergreen Park, Illinois. Joni is survived by her husband, Don, her four children; Samuel, Riley, William and Lila. Along with her two children by marriage; Donald and Cortney. Her grandchildren; Althea, Lorelai, and Damien. Joni was a sister to Kaitlyn, Steven and Demetri. She was an aunt to Joey, Kaylee, Emma and Steven Jr. Joni worked many years in the trucking industry, as a dispatcher and a load planner. She was very well respected amongst her colleagues.
Her smile was contagious and could light up an entire room, her humor could make anyone’s day no matter the circumstances. Anywhere Joni went she would make a friend. Joni had such a big heart, she would go above and beyond for anyone.
Joni fought breast cancer courageously for seven years. With the help of the Northwestern Prentice Women’s Hospital, joni was able to continue her fight until the very end. Her motto was “Never give up, Never stop trying”
Her family and life long friends have cherished the time they all had with her. Joni’s legacy will live on with her loved ones. She may be gone, but Joni will never be forgotten.
