It is with profound sadness, we share the passing of Leonidas (Leo, Lemoni) Bamidis (age 87), on May 16, 2025. He went peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was a loving Husband, Father, Nouno (godfather), Uncle, Pappou and dear friend to many near and far. Born January 23rd, 1938, in Tuxero, Thraki, Greece to the late Mixali and late Sultana Bamidis. Leo married his beautiful wife in Kerasia, Greece and immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1963. Eventually he his family moved to Chicago in late 1967. Holding various jobs, he is most remembered for 34 years at Nabisco and over 20 years as co-owner of the Magic Snack Shop, where they were famous for their corn beef hash. He was a handyman and a wonderful cook. He loved his game shows, playing solitaire, word searches and can’t forget those scratch off tickets. Leo touched the lives of everyone who knew him and will be remembered for his contagious smile, kind and generous spirit. Everybody knew his name. He was a devoted husband to his late wife Constantina (nee Economou) Bamidis. Survived by his loving daughters Sultana Bamidis and Vicky (Santo) Chichi, loving Papou to Anthony, Nick, and Maegan Chichi, brother to Stavros (Katina) Bamidis, Christos (Sarah) Bamidis and the late Panagiotis (late Soula) Bamidis. And we can’t forget his devoted parrot Buddy, who never left his side. May his Memory be Eternal.
