Athanasios G. Hrysikos, age 89, formerly of Soulari, Arcadia, Greece. Beloved husband of Asimina (nee Hiotis), devoted father of George (Argentene) Hrysikos; proud Pappou of Athanasios (Thano) and Niko; loving son of the late George and Christina (nee Paraskevopoulos) Hrysikos; fond son-in-law of the late Demetrios and Georgia Hiotis. Dear brother of Nikos Hrysikos, Polivios (late Eleni) Hrysikos, Maria (late Kostas) Kakavos and the late Fotini (late Spiro) Hoidas; dear uncle, cousin and friend of many here and in Greece. Athanasios was born on August 2, 1933 in the beautiful village of Soulari, Greece. He grew up during the time of civil unrest in Greece. Athanasios married the love of his life, Asimina, October of 1969 and cherished her for 53 years. Athanasios and Asimina came to America in 1973 with their infant son George for a better life with only a few dollars in his pocket. He embraced America while supporting his Greek community here and back home. Athanasios became a successful restauranteur, most notably, a co-owner of Huck Finn Restaurant chain in the southside of Chicago and suburbs. He worked tirelessly to model a strong work ethic and instilled the core values that his family lives by today – integrity, humility and philotimo. He took pride in his stack of Greek newspapers and enjoyed cutting out newsworthy articles. Anyone who knew him could find him immersed reading the paper and one of thousands of scholarly books. Sometimes he could speak to you without saying a word – his eyes said it all. Athanasios will be dearly missed. May His Memory Be Eternal.
