Konstantinos “Gus” Maheras  May 29,1930 – December 12, 2020

Visitation for Mr. Maheras will take place on Wednesday December 16th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Maher Funeral Home, 17101 South 71st Avenue (1 Block East of Harlem on 171st Street) Tinley Park Illinois 60477. There will be a private funeral service reserved for the family on Thursday December 17th at 10:45 AM at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Palos Hills. Gus will be laid to rest along side his beloved Patricia Ann at Evergreen Cemetery, Evergreen Park Illinois. 

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Father Byron Koreas Student Assistance Fund at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church.

In light of the current health situation, everyone will be asked to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

Konstantinos “Gus” Maheras, 90, of Orland Park, and born in Manthirea, Arcadia Greece passed away on Saturday, December 12th, peacefully at home. Beloved husband of the late Patricia Ann (nee Winters) for over 34 years. Loving father of Thomas (Leslie), James (Alison), George, Vicki (Chris) Dray, and Billy (Joy). Proud papou of Katharine, Patricia, Emily, Thomas, Olivia, Anna Patricia, Will, Amalia, Maggie, Sophia and Zoe. Devoted son of the late Athanasios and Vasiliki (nee Kliros). Dear brother of the late George, and Katina (the late Klearhos) Sinopoulos. Caring uncle of many nieces and nephews. Gus came to this country in 1951 at the age of 21 with nothing but an amazing work ethic and a desire for a good life. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as an expert gunner in Germany, and then went on to his life’s work as a restaurateur. Gus married his love, Pat, in 1962 who always said it was his sweet smile that won her over. They had five children along the way for whom they made a beautiful life. Gus was an extremely selfless person with an abundance of generosity, who helped and touched many lives along the way. He lit up and reveled in the accomplishments of every one of his children and grandchildren who were his pride and joy. May his memory be eternal! The visitation will take place on Wednesday,
December 16th from 4pm – 8pm at Maher Funeral Home, 17101 South 71st Avenue, Tinley Park, IL. Private funeral service reserved for family only at 10:45am Thursday at Sts.
