Services for Mr. Nichols will take place all in one day on Thursday December 7, 2023 at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 11025 South Roberts Road Palos Hills Illinois 60465. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral Service will start promptly at 11:00 AM and immediately after visitation. Harry will be laid to rest alongside his beloved Georgia at Evergreen Cemetery in Evergreen Park.

Harry J. Nichols (Niarchos) of Palos Hills, Illinois passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Georgia nee Christopoulos for nearly 32 years. Loving father of Pauline (George) Kyros, James (Mary Beth), and Dean (Pamela). Dearest Pappou of Suzanne (Chris) Murin, Jeanette (Peter) Fefles, Louis (Katerina) Kyros, Gianna Nichols, Harrison Nichols and Parker (Brooke) Nichols. Proud great-grandfather of Madeline, Eleni, Thano, Matthew, Lexi, George (Fefles), George (Kyros) and Panos. Beloved son of the late Demosthenes and the late Polixene Niarchos. Dear brother of the late George (Late Pauline) Niarchos, the late Despina (late Nick) Kanatas, the late Nick (late Stamatina) Niarchos and Eugenia (late Alex) Pavlopoulos. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews here and in Greece.

Harry was born in Alliance, Ohio on September 24, 1920. Shortly thereafter, his family moved back to Vamvakou, Sparta, Greece where Harry was raised until he returned to live in Columbus, Ohio at the age of 19. During World War II Harry served bravely in the U.S. Army in Europe where he landed on Omaha Beach, Normandy on D-Day, served in the 3rd Army during the liberation of France, and fought in many battles including the Battle of the Bulge. Upon his return, he married the love of his life, the late Georgia Christopoulos and raised his three children. In 2014 he was awarded the French Legion of Honor medal by the French Government for his wartime service in France. Harry was a florist for many years. Devoted member for many years of the Parish Council at St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Palos Hills. May His Memory be Eternal!
