Demetrios Dellaportas December 13, 1927 – April 8, 2021

The services for Mr. Dellaportas will take place all in one day at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church of Hammond Indiana. In light of the currant health situations the services will be private and reserved for family only. Mr. Dellaportas will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery also of Hammond Indiana. The Dellaportas family thanks you for your prayers and support, and especially your patience during this difficult time. Most of all they wish for you and your loved ones remain safe. Dellaportas, Demetrios Age 93. Passed away peacefully into eternal life on April 8th  , 2021. An incredible husband to Theodora (nee Armatas), father to Maria, Diana, Peter (Diane Karvelas), Tom Dellaportas, and Michelle (Matt) Pipikios, grandfather of Michael, Deirdre, Marc, Steven, Samantha, Nicole, Alexis, Theodora, James, Peter, and Peter. Brother of John, Konstantinos, Francesca (Mike) Halikias and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He joins his brothers John and Konstantinos, daughter Diana, and nephew Michael in the kingdom of heaven. Demetrios was born in Athens, Greece, but was raised on the Ionian island of Lefkada where his family had a farm. Demetrios proudly and courageously served as a lieutenant in the Greek Army. In his early adulthood, he voyaged to the United States where he first worked at his uncle’s steakhouse in Fort Worth, Texas and began his business studies at Texas Christian University. He married the love of his life, Theodora, in 1957 and they began their life together in Chicago. Demetrios’s laundromat business laid the groundwork for his career in real estate. However, Demetrios was best known for his big and adventurous personality with the most distinguished laugh that dominated the sound of every room. May his memory be eternal.

Visitation and Funeral Service will take place at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church of Hammond, IN. Demetrios will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery of Hammond Indiana.
