Beniamino Mario Ritacca, “Benny” age 70, passed away peacefully Monday morning February 8th at his home in North Riverside with his loving children at his side. Residing in North Riverside and formerly Berwyn, Benny was born in Zumpano, Calabria Italy. Beloved father of Jessica (Kevin) Skinkis, Anthony (Pina nee Toscano) Ritacca, and Deanna (Kevin) Melvin. Devoted “Grandpa Benny” of Richie and Rosie Skinkis, Nicolette and Rocco Ritacca, and Mia and Luke Melvin. Former husband and lifelong friend of Beth Ritacca (nee Driscoll). Loving son of the late Santo and Esterina Ritacca and brother of Fran Sofia and the late Carmen Ritacca.. Fun loving cousin Benny and dear uncle to many. Along the years Benny had many passions in his life. He was proud to have been an immigrant to the United States who can say that he not only owned one, but two successful businesses in his life time. Both Benny’s Headquaters in Berwyn and Rascals Restaurant of LaGrange Park were not just serving random customers. The patrons were always more like extended family. He was very passionate about his work, but nothing compared to his devotion to his children and grandchildren. Benny could often be found in the kitchen with the kids making his famous meatballs or baking cakes. From baseball to soccer, or softball to dance and even football, Grandpa Benny never missed a sporting event for any of his grandkids. Taking time along the way for himself to golf with friends and family and occasionally fishing with cousin Mario always put him at peace. One of his favorite quotes was “ I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken!” His love for the holidays shines through in every family tradition and memory we have. Coloring Easter eggs, carving pumpkins, hanging Christmas lights, cooking meals, and Fourth of July festivities were just a few of his favorite things! He shared so many wonderful memories with everyone who crossed his path at one point or another. His legacy will live on through all of those memories and stories we continue to share.  Visitation Thursday February 11th, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Conboy- Westchester Funeral Home 10501 West Cermak Road Westchester Illinois 60154.
