Services for Jon will take place all in one day on Monday July 20th at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 11025 South Roberts Road Palos Hills Illinois 60465. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral Service to begin promptly at 10:30 AM and immediately after the visitation. Jon will be laid to rest alongside his beloved Denise at Evergreen cemetery of Evergreen Park

Jon “Skip” Buzanis, age 79, of Naperville, Illinois passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Born May 23, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois as a son to the late Gus and Helen Buzanis.
Skip will be warmly remembered for his deep love of sports, rarely seen without a ball, club or racket. Whether playing or coaching, his passion for the game often turned casual sports conversations into hours-long sports chats that naturally turned into history lessons.
Above all, Skip was loved by his family and friends, and he leaves behind a legacy built on wonderful stories, good-spirited pranks and unforgettable laughter.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Denise Buzanis. He is lovingly remembered by his children Bethany (Ryan) Hammer, Thomas (Iris) Buzanis and Nicole (Matthew) Cummins; 7 grandchildren; loving siblings Gary (Christine) Buzanis and Gayle “Kiki” (Harold) Gribow; uncle and cousin to many.
