NICHOLAS E. LIONTAKIS  January 10, 1933 – February 29, 2020

Services for Mr. Liontakis will take place all in one day on March 5th, 2020 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Homer Glen (15625 South Bell Road ). Visitation will take place at 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with funeral service to immediately follow. Interment will take place at Good Shepherd Cemetery of Orland Park. The Liontakis family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Nicholas’s name to The Assumption Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund.

 

 

Nicholas E. Liontakis, 87, of Olympia Fields, Illinois passed away at his home surrounded by his family on February 29, 2020.Nick is survived by his wife, Mary (nee Lyristakis); his three children, Calliopi (Kent) Jeffirs, Frances (James) Liontakis, and Emmanuel (Hedy) Liontakis; eight grandchildren, Stephen Jeffirs, Nicholas Jeffirs, his “Irish Beauty” Maria Jeffirs, Jack Nicholas McNamara, Eli James McNamara, John Liontakis, Leo Liontakis, and Dean Liontakis; and siblings, Vicky Skevofeelaka and George E. Liontakis.Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Emmanuel N. Liontakis and Frangitsa Liontakis of Karpathos, Greece; and siblings, Louis E. Liontakis and Sophia Liontakis. Nick was born on January 10, 1933 in Karpathos, Greece and came to the United States with this family at the age of two. Nick graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor’s degree in 1955 and Boston University Law School with his Juris Doctor degree in 1958.  He was a prominent attorney in Chicago who practiced law for over 40 years.Nick and Mary were married for 52 years. Nick and Mary took their children to Karpathos, Greece many times to spend time with their parents, aunts and uncles, and cousins. It was important to them that their children know their roots and heritage. Nick was extremely proud of his children and gave them the nicknames, “Pride and Joy”, “Angel”, and “Super Son”. His eight grandchildren brought him a tremendous amount of joy. May his Memory be Eternal! Visitation will be on March 5, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 15625 S. Bell Road, Homer Glen, Illinois prior to the Funeral at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Orland Park, Illinois to follow. Orrico Kourelis Funeral Services Inc. handling all arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Homer Glen Building Fund.
