Violet Conway, nee Terpinas, age 95, fell asleep in the Lord, Monday, December 27, 2021, after a long struggle with Vascular Dementia. Loving and dedicated daughter, wife, and mother, Violet was born on August 18, 1926, in Detroit Michigan to James and Angela Terpinas. After moving to Chicago the family lived for many years behind her father’s shoe repair store at 87th and Morgan. A 1944 graduate of Calumet High School Violet worked as secretary to the Comptroller of R. Cooper Jr. Inc. during the war years. It was there she met the love of her life and husband William Conway. Despite their discretion, their romance became the worst kept secret in the company. The couple married on June 4, 1950, and remained together for 69 years until Bill’s death in 2020. Over the ensuing years, they raised three children. Violet was employed from 1960 – 1985 retiring from Postalia Inc. where she headed Human Resources. She moved to Florida settling first in Punta Gorda and then Melbourne Beach. She and Bill moved back in 2013 entering Beacon Hill Assisted Living Center in Lombard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ruth Dunn (Terpinas), and her husband William Conway. She is survived by her sister Theodora (Teddie) Aickelin (Terpinas), her son James and daughter-in-law Terri, her son William, her daughter Ann Patricia.
Violet was the embodiment of a purpose-driven life. She knew, with absolute certainty, what she was here for; to support her family, guide and nurture her children, and aid others. To that end, she remained undeterred and tireless her entire life.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Due to the Omicron outbreak and for everyone’s safety only the immediate family will be in attendance.
Individuals can view the funeral service live starting at 10:00 AM or view the recording of it for six months afterward. Violet will be laid to rest alongside her beloved William at Evergreen Cemetery of Evergreen Park Illinois. Orrico Kourelis Funeral Services Inc. entrusted with all arrangements.
