Vassiliki (Vasso) Tjiotis passed away peacefully at her son’s home on August 10th surrounded by her adoring children. She was born in Athens Greece on April 2, 1931, and married the love of her life on November 6, 1955. She attended school in Athens where she became fluent in Italian and French. They had two children in Greece before immigrating to the United States, the land of opportunity in 1964. They had another child shortly after moving to Chicago and worked tirelessly to learn the English language, adapt to American culture, and worked as a talented and forward thinking seamstress. She was known for her love of fashion, cooking, entertaining, traveling, and doting on her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends with her delicious meals and desserts. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Aristotelis (Telly) Tjiotis for over 35 years. Together they became proud citizens of the US and operated a very successful dry cleaning and tailoring business until her husband’s devastating premature death in 1991. Together they were committed to ensuring that their children were educated, and instilled in them the invaluable gift of an education, while raising them with strong religious values, ethics and the love of family. She was the matriarch of her family and devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. We are comforted by knowing that she is reunited with her beloved Telly, and other family. She was predeceased by her loving parents Alexi and Angelliki Foskini and her beloved sister Anastasia (Tassia) and her brother-in-law John Albanopoulos. She is survived by her three children, Lena (the late John) Dracopoulos, Steven and his wife Vera Jiotis, and Gina Delahera (fiancée of Randy Hulett), ten grandchildren, Christina (William) Sweis, Vasiliki, and Peter Dracopoulos, Vanessa (Adam) Bezanis, Alexa, and Elena (fiancé of James Stamos) Delahera, Ariana, Christopher, Sophia, and Nicholas Jiotis, and three great grandchildren – Gianna and Emilia Sweis and Anastasia Gina Bezanis.  She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in Greece. We will forever be grateful to her caregiver, Maria Martynenko for the love, kindness and compassion she has shown our mother while living with her full time at her son’s home. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy will continue to honor her for generations to come.
