Van Virva  April 20, 1926 – November 18, 2020

In light of the current health situation, the services for Mr. Virva will take place all in one day. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Friday morning November 27th, at St. Patricia Catholic Church, 9050 west 86th Avenue Hickory Hills Illinois. The  Mass of Christian Burial take place immediately after starting promptly at 10:00 AM. Van will be laid to rest next to his beloved Gerry at Good Shepard Catholic Cemetery of Orland Park.

In lieu of flowers the Virva family kindly asks that memorials be made to St. Patricia Church in Van’s name

WITH THE HELP OF THE CHURCH PARISH STAFF ONLY PEOPLE WITH MASKS ON AND NO TEMPERATURE WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE CHURCH NOT TO EXCEED 125 PEOPLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH CDC GUIDELINES OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS AND THE ROMAN CATHOLIC ARCHDIOSES OF CHICAGO.

Vandlin C. Virva, Jr., age 94, a lifelong resident of Hickory Hills, passed away peacefully on November 18th, 2020 with family at his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Geraldine A. Virva (nee Pfau). Cherished father of Kathy (Ken) Zale, Karen (Michael) DeFilippis, and Kristine (Tom) McMaster. Proud grandfather of Brian (Amy), Kim (Mike), Scott (Megan), Kelly (Joe), Shannon (James), Eric (Colleen), Kaleen (Brendan), Ryan Kate, Kevin (Stephanie). Great grandfather to Michael, Cooper, Sydney, Peyton, Quinn, McKenzie, Caden, Maeve, Charles, Cameron, Henry, Geralyn, Ginny, Emma, Cora. Fond Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Van was admired by countless friends and family alike and will be dearly missed. A proud veteran of The United States Army, recipient of The Sertoma Service to Mankind Award and proud employee of the Reynolds Aluminum Company of McCook for over 30 years. Founding member of St. Patricia’s  Athletic Association, & Holy Name Society. He was most proud of being instrumental in the developing of The Our Lady of Fatima field which has hosted countless parish events but especially his Beloved Bobcat Football!  Orrico Kourelis Funeral Services Inc. handling all arrangements.
