Theodoros (Ted) J. Skaltsas, age 93, fell asleep in the Lord peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. Beloved and devoted husband to Katerina (Rina) Panagoulias for 52 years. Loving father to John (Andrea) Skaltsas, Joann Pieropoulos, and Georgia (Ranko) Miocinovic. Devoted grandfather to Peter, James, Katerina, Alexandros (Alexi), Teodor, Simona and Iliana. Devoted son to the late Ioannis and Ioanna Skaltsas. A dear brother to Thanassios (Sophia), Theodora (the late Konstantinos) Dalkou, Kostas (Irini), The late Asimina (the late Yiorgios) Bouyiatiotis, The late Violetta (the late Yiannis) Korolovas, Fotini (Stellios) Koutris & Eleni (Yiannis) Berdousis. Loved Uncle, cousin, Nouno and friend to many. He was born August 7, 1929 in Prasino, Arcadia, Greece. Ted immigrated to the United States in search of the American dream. He came with a small bag of possessions and limited language. With the determination to make it in the land of opportunity, his first job was at the world-famous Rockefeller Plaza in NYC. Then, he headed for a short stay in Atlanta before he settled in Chicago where he made home for the past half-century. Ted was very personable, quick witted and always cracked jokes—some may have pushed the envelope. He always asked about and was concerned for family and friends. His secret to a long life, was to laugh, eat well, and exercise as he did all the way through age 89. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you make a donation to St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Oak Lawn in Ted’s memory. Orrico Kourelis Funeral Services Inc. entrusted with all arrangements.
