Phyllis Lorraine Tierney January 8, 1935 – November 14, 2023
Visitation for Phyllis will be held Friday, November 17, from 4:00 PM -9:00 PM at Palos Gaidas Funeral Home 11028 Southwest Hwy, Palos Hills, IL 60465. Friends and family are asked to meet Saturday morning at the funeral home at 10:00 am and proceed to St. Patricia Catholic Church 9050 South 86th Ave, Hickory Hills, IL for the 11:30a. Mass of Christian Burial. She will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery along side her beloved Edward.

Phyllis Tierney (née O’Reilly) 88, of Hickory Hills passed away peacefully Tuesday evening with her family by her side. Phyllis is survived by her three children: Reilly (Gina Carmignani) Tierney, Eileen (Duffy) McCann, and Maribeth (Christian) Kostal. Loving grandmother of Maeve, Caoilinn, Jack, and Fionn Tierney, and Meghan McCann.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 20 years, Edward Tierney, her parents Phillip and Mary O’Reilly. Dearest sister of James (Bonita) O’Reilly the late Dorothy (the late Phillip) Testa; the late Dolores (the late Gerard) Niles; and late Thomas (the late Pat) O’Reilly. Sister-in-law of Jean (the late William) Kelleher, the late Patricia Tierney, the late Mary (the late James) O’Malley, and John (the late Sherry). Mother-in-law of the late Colleen Bruton.
Phyllis was the matriarch of a large extended family included 26 nieces and nephews, and so many grand nieces and nephews we lost count, all of whom meant the world to her. She was in her glory entertaining and making sure the family stayed close together in the aftermath of the passing of her siblings. She was a proud graduate of Visitation High School. She began her work career at People’s Gas Company; and, following the untimely passing of her late husband, she worked at the IBEW Local 134.
