Services for Maria will take place all in one day September 9th at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 11025 South Roberts Road Palos Hills Illinois 60465. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Funeral Service will take place immediately after visitation beginning promptly at 11:00 AM. Maria’s interment will be private.

On Sunday, August 28, 2022, Maria Boubourekas (nee Koutsopodiotis) loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and dear friend, fell asleep with the Lord at age 87. Maria was born on April 12, 1935, in Argos Greece to the late Nikolaos and Anna Koutsopodiotis . She had 6 siblings: the late Odysseia , the late Irini, Evangelos, Evangelia, Dimitra, and the late Soula. She is survived by her husband Niko, her children John (Sotiria) Boubourekas, Peter Boubourekas, and Anna (Gus) Tsamis. She was a loving and proud Yiayia of Nicholas (Big Nick), Nolan, Andrew, Nick, Noel, Niko (Little Nick) and Maria. She is also survived by my nieces and nephews: Nikolaos, George, John, Anthe, Irini, Aiki, Eleni, the late Giorgo, Niko, and Odesseia. Maria left Greece in the late 1950s and moved to Australia where she married Niko in New South Whales. They built a wonderful life in Australia where both of her sons were born. They decided to venture out and they came to the United States in 1970 where her youngest child/daughter was born. In the United States, Maria and her husband settled in Chicago, Illinois. They had run their own business until their retirement in 2015. Maria loved to cook and knit blankets. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. There was not a person on the East Side that did not know her laughter or kindness. She will be deeply missed and remembered fondly.
