On Saturday, February 11th, 2023, John Alois Skrbec, age eighty-one joined his beloved wife, Donna Jean at eternal rest.  Born to John and Estelle Skrbec, John proudly spent his early 20s in the Army, stationed for a time in Germany.  Upon his return, he worked for Commonwealth Edison, and then began a career with US Steel as an electrician that spanned decades until the plant was closed.  The “Mayor of South Works”, was one of the last people to depart the mill.  Afterward, he worked in construction until he joined the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, working there until his retirement.

John was a lifetime Bears and Cubs fan, and spent many happy Sundays tailgating with his kids at Soldier Field.

Cherished father of Bradford (Eileen) Skrbec, Wendy (Mark) Jongsma, Wanda (Jim) O’Brien, Rachel (Timothy) Roberts and Sean (Karen) Skrbec. Loving grampa of Caitlin, Kelsey, Marissa, Kayla, Meghan, Samantha, Colleen, Jimmy, Gillian, Matthew, Trevor, Jenna, Emma, Shane, Miranda and Paige. Dear brother of Joanne.
