Fani Hondros, age 89, entered into eternal rest at home on October 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 2, 1936 in Arfara, Messinias, Greece to the late Athanasios and Panagiota. Fani met Peter (Panayiotis) in Greece, and the two went on to marry in 1960. They emigrated to the USA in 1966 and settled in Massachusetts.
After Fani and Peter retired in the 1990s, they moved to Illinois. Fani enjoyed a multitude of hobbies during her life which included working in the garden, cooking, baking, sewing, going on nature walks, and, above all, spending quality time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 62 years, Peter, as well as her siblings, Alexi, Grigoris, Demetra, Maria, and Maria. She will forever be remembered by her loving daughters, Christine (Photis) Skiadopoulos, Eleni (the late Christopher) Kitsch, and Pauline Gikas; her beloved grandchildren, Evdokia (Paul), Leonidas (Denise), Kristen, Peter, Evangelos, and Priscilla; and her precious great-grandchildren, Maria, Chrysoula, Chrysoula, Photis, and Alexander. Fani is also survived by her siblings, Panayiotis, Demitri, Gabriel, Kostas, and Georgia, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends across Greece, America, and Canada.
