Today, I am deeply saddened, and in a world of hurt . My beloved Mother has passed away. Some people never really leave us. They remain with us through the memories they create, the love they give, and the lives they touch. My mother will always be that special person. Both my parents were truly special people. They shared a genuine love for each other, and I feel privileged to have witnessed this all of my life. I will always remember my mom as being a kind and loving person, a wife to my dad, a devoted mom to Harry and myself, and especially for the warmth and support she always showed to everyone around her. She had a special way of making you feel that you mattered, that you were accepted, and that you were never alone. I admired her strength as a mother to Harry and myself. She raised us during a time when awareness of autism was so limited. The understanding of this affliction was scarce at that time and sadly, mothers were often blamed. Despite all those challenges, she never stopped fighting, never stop loving and never stopped standing strong for us. Koula along with Takis were long time devoted members of their beloved St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of Oak Lawn and proudly volunteered for many years within the Women’s Philoptochos Society. We will always remember her with love, admiration and gratitude.. Mana Mou, Manoula Mou! I am truly going to miss you. May you Rest in Peace and May your Memory be Eternal!
