Yianoula (Joan) Gelis  November 2,1926 – March 17,2020

In light of the current health situation ,the services for Mrs. Gelis will be held all in one day as a private service. She will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery, Evergreen Park Illinois. The Gelis,Lattas, and Vardikos families would like thank you for your understanding and greatly appreciate your prayers and gestures of sympathy during this most difficult time. Most importantly they wish for you and your loved ones to be safe.

 

Yianoula (Joan) Gelis nee Giavaris (Babanena) 93 of Oak Lawn and born of Louka, Arcadia, Greece, passed away peacefully Tuesday night March 17th peacefully at home surrounded by loving family. Beloved and devoted wife of the late George Gelis for over 40 years. Most loving mother of Gus (Soula) Gelis, Nikoletta (Danny) Lattas, Kathy (Louie) Vardikos, and Peter Gelis. Dearest yiayia of Bobby (Angelica) Lattas, Maria (Adam) Weiss, Michael Vardikos, George (Angie) Gelis, Niki (George) Kounelis, Joanne (Kosta) Karanastasis, Stella (Jimmy) Tzotzos, George (Tina) Lattas, Christ Gelis, George (Megan) Vardikos, Joanna (Peter) Drebos, and George Gelis. Yianoula was the proud great grandmother of 23 great grandchildren. Loving sister of the late George (Georgia) Giavris, the late Bill (Eleni) Giavris, Calipso (the late George) Apostopoulos, the late Theodosis (Christine) Giavris, and Stavroula (the late Napoleon) Pantazopoulos. Fond Theia of many, many nieces and nephews in Greece, Australia, as well as the United States. A private service will take place for family in light of the current health situation and Yianoula will be laid to rest at Evergreen cemetery of Evergreen Park next to her beloved husband George.
